What is tantra?
This question leads me
straight into my heart
What stands here is my answer, not the answer. Libraries have been written about tantra, and there are many traditions that see it differently.
Being in connection
Tantra, for me,
means being in connection
With my heart, my feelings and my body. And once I have fully arrived in myself, I can enter an honest connection with myself and with the person in front of me.
When I may be who I am, and feel what I feel, something true comes about.
In practice
What that means
in everyday life
That sounds abstract, so let me be concrete. Tantra means, first of all, asking the body and not only the head. Noticing that something tightens while you are saying yes. Feeling where a boundary runs, before it has been crossed.
It means letting a feeling be there without sorting it into a category straight away. It means sitting across from someone and really being there, instead of already preparing your answer. And it means understanding sensuality not as the first step towards something else, but as a way of perceiving in its own right.
None of this needs incense sticks, a word in Sanskrit or belief in anything at all. It needs time, and the willingness to become slower than you are used to being.
An invitation
Are you looking for yourself,
and for what is true?
Then consider yourself invited to open to the tantric fields. Through tantra I came to feel who I am, as a person and as a being. Through the access to my heart and my senses I keep discovering my life anew.
And in doing so I found love: love for myself, for my own strength, and with that for life and for being alive.
Where I stand in it
A lighthouse does not call.
It shines.
A lighthouse simply stands there. It does not push, it does not pick anyone out, it does not run after anybody. It is there, and whoever needs it will find it.
That is how I want to stand in this work. Not walking ahead and pointing the way, but being reliably in the same place, so that someone can take their bearings from it if they want to. Where your path leads I do not know, and I do not presume to know.
Whether in bodywork, in coaching, in a men's circle or on the yoga mat: it is never about becoming what you are not yet. It is about noticing what is already there.
